The Jewish 1%

Tablet Magazine has published my recent essay, The Jewish 1%. This piece delves into BOUNTY, my experiences growing up in the Jewish 1%, the need for a new discourse about Jews and money, and the time I attended summer camp with Ivanka Trump. Seriously.

I am a New Jewish Culture Fellow!

I’m so thrilled to share that I’ve been selected as one of six artists for the 2019/2020 cohort of the New Jewish Culture Fellowship!! NJCF provides support and community for artists making risk-taking Jewish arts and culture.

Since I started making work about Jewish wealth I’ve been receiving quite a bit of push-back from members of my tribe, so it’s particularly lovely to receive Jewish support for my current practice. I can’t wait to get started!!!

Monuments Of Paris

It took weeks of emails and phone calls, but I  *finally* have 2 panels of the Monuments of Paris wallpaper in my studio.

These are from the same batch used for the Met Museum’s William C. Williams parlor room. The panels are an exact replica of an American wallpaper produced in 1810, and I’m using them for a piece as part of my Bounty series. I’m super excited.

Many thanks to the Met Museum and my friend, the wonderful art historian Nikki Georgopulos, for much needed research help!

Platter Plans

This French serving tray belonged to my great Aunt Helda. It portrays Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI. When I was a kid we used it to serve bread and matzoh at family gatherings- now I have plans to transform it into a political sculpture about Ivanka and Jared...stay tuned!

JUDY GOLD

My Bounty video series uses sound design, animation, and voice actors to insert Jewish content into classic film depictions of wealthy melodrama. Here, Bette Davis' character from Dark Victory, socialite Judith Traherne, becomes Judith Gold.

My Short Film Is Finished!

I’m thrilled to announce that Eleanor of Illinois, a short film I wrote and directed, is finished! The film stars Broadway legend Judy Kuhn and is my most ambitious piece to date. I’m applying to film festivals now and hope to show the film later this year- stay tuned!
